CloudAICommerce

We build it, and we say what it cannot do.

Elastic Thoughts is a family-owned, veteran-owned engineering practice in South Carolina. We architect and build cloud infrastructure, AI systems and commerce platforms, and we scope tightly enough to tell you when the thing you asked for is not the thing you need.

01 — What we do

Six things we get hired for.

01

Cloud and AWS architecture

Well-Architected reviews, written cost optimization audits, serverless APIs delivered as infrastructure-as-code you own and can redeploy without us, multi-region high availability, and migration planning. Prior delivery under PHI, HIPAA, GxP, PCI and GLBA.

02

AI systems

Retrieval bound to citations, agents with spend caps and approval gates, and pipelines that verify their own output before it reaches production. Every agent logs what it spends and stops at a ceiling.

03

E-commerce and payments

Headless Shopify storefronts on Next.js, Stripe subscriptions with entitlement and proration logic, custom Shopify apps, and the integration work that keeps a catalog in sync with the systems around it.

04

Full-stack builds

Customer portals, onboarding flows, data import pipelines and internal admin tooling. Fixed price against a dated milestone schedule. Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA where it is a procurement requirement.

05

Prospect research

Verified retail buyer contacts for wholesale brands. One row per store, every contact cited to the URL it came from. Where a contact cannot be verified the row says so rather than guessing at an address.

06

Independent code review

Read-only review against a defined rubric. We do not change the code, implement the fixes, or take an ongoing role on the codebase reviewed, which is what keeps the verdict worth having.

03 — How we work

Four shapes an engagement takes.

Fixed-price milestones

A dated schedule priced per milestone, agreed before anything is built. The shape most builds should take.

Capped hours

An hourly rate with a hard ceiling and a stated maximum exposure, for work whose shape is not yet clear.

Retainer

Ongoing availability against a defined scope.

Advisory

A working session plus a written summary. The written artefact is the deliverable, not the call.

What we will tell you

  • If what you are asking for is not what you need, we say so before quoting.
  • We do not quote a savings percentage before seeing a bill. Anyone who does has not looked at your usage.
  • Zero downtime is not something you buy. It is a budget you spend.
  • No language model gives you 100 percent of anything.
  • Where a figure cannot be sourced, it does not get printed.

04 — Credentials

Twenty-five years of production work.

Nearly three years at Amazon Web Services as a Senior Solutions Architect. Chief AWS architect for a global financial advisory firm and for a global IT services firm. Ten years running UNIX, storage, database and development teams at a regional savings bank.

Certifications and standing

  • Five AWS certifications, two at Professional level: Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer
  • AWS Certified Instructor
